MARCH 5, 2025
If there’s one thing we’ve learned from every pop-up, it’s this: you never really know what’s going to happen. Until you unpack your seventh bag of TudungPeople products and pray people actually show up.
This time, we took a leap of faith (and a car full of hijabs) to Cagayan de Oro for our Ramadhan Pop-Up held at Mad Café CDO from February 25 to 28. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. It was just a few days before Ramadan began, so everyone was already in that calm, reflective mood (but still ready for some good coffee and hijab shopping!)
It was our first time collaborating with a local Muslim-owned café in CDO, and it turned out chef’s kiss perfect. Big thanks to our TP Kitties, Maika and Sal of Mad Café CDO, for being the real masterminds behind this event. Without your initiative and your food, this pop-up wouldn’t have been the same. We especially loved the Veggie Sisig and your Pepa Blend. Let’s just say our diet took a short vacation.
We went all out for this one. We restocked Aman Prayerwear in all colors. We prepared TP merch and vouchers including our custom mugs, keychains, coffee vouchers from Mad Café, and facial vouchers from LayDerm Clinic. Thank you, Lalay (a TP Kitty since day 1). Also shoutout to Maleehini for designing our mug, keychain, and coffee cup sleeves. You made our freebies look too pretty to use.
Of course, a pop-up is never complete without surprises. We had special gifts for the first 10 customers and free TP hijabs for the first 50. The café quickly turned into a mini TP headquarters filled with shopping bags and sisters helping each other style their hijabs between coffee sips.
But this pop-up wasn’t just about shopping. It was also about preparing our hearts for the blessed month ahead.
We were honored to have our very own TP Kitty, Sittie Asliyyah Sumndad Lomondot, lead a short talk on “Mind and Body Conditioning for Ramadan.” She is a Hafidha, an Ustadha, and a licensed engineer. Ma shaa Allah, her insights were full of wisdom and warmth. She reminded us how to align our mind, body, and imaan before the holy month begins.
After the talk, we had mini games that, as expected, were dominated by the Baloi Chapter TP Kitties. They brought so much energy and joy, as always.
Behind the laughter and success was a moment of reflection. As our TP Mother shared, “Every time we have a pop-up, I get nervous. I pray so hard that people will come. And every single time, Allah answers my du’a.”
This event wasn’t just a pop-up. It was a reminder that tawakal, community, and coffee make the best combination. Especially when shared with sisters who have become family. To everyone who came, supported, and made du’a for us, Jazakumullahu khayran. You made our Nostalgic Ramadhan truly unforgettable.
Until the next one? See you again soon, TP Kitties.
